Africa 2015 ( for an AIDS-Free Generation

hi guyes i founed this at the UNDP website, i think it is a very god project that all the African youth intiatives could like to join it ( cause guys we are all really crazy of football in Africa) so that will help in more awareness:

Promoting awareness and achievement of the Millennium Development Goals:
Africa 2015 is an initiative to promote awareness and achievement of the eight Millennium Development Goals that world leaders adopted at the Millennium Summit in 2000. It focuses initially on combating HIV/AIDS, part of Goal 6. The target by 2015 is to halt and begin to reverse the spread of the disease, which has spread to 42 million people worldwide, more than 30 million in Africa.

Top African soccer teams will take to the field at the 24th African Cup of Nations in Tunisia in January 2004, and in doing so they will bring messages on stopping HIV/AIDS and the other Millennium goals to tens of millions of spectators at the matches and via television. Soccer superstars Ronaldo and Zidane have enlisted in the initiative to protect as many from the epidemic as possible.

By targeting HIV/AIDS, the initiative also aims to help achieve the other goals —- eradicating extreme poverty and hunger, achieving universal primary education, promoting gender equality and empowering women, reducing child mortality, improving maternal health, ensuring environmental sustainability, and developing a global partnership for development.

Everyone can make a difference in combating HIV/AIDS. By working towards an AIDS-free generation, everyone can help transform the future of Africa.

An alliance of celebrities, sportsmen and women, the media, writers and intellectuals, and religious and political leaders at all levels came together to boost Africa 2015 throughout the continent and beyond. at July 2003, UNDP, in collaboration with sister UN agencies, gathered a dozen internationally renowned African singers and musicians in Dakar, Senegal, for a two-day consultation on Africa 2015.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the UN's global development network, is marshalling forces in Africa to complement and advance the efforts of all the UN agencies, civil society groups and government agencies already working to achieve the Millennium Development Goals in Africa.

ITU Telecom Africa 2004 coming to Egypt

I just Uploaded 3 PICs at the WSIS pics section of Egyptian Preseident Mobarak, UN Sec gen Kofi Annan,Youshi Utsumi the Sec gen of the ITU. while sending an electronic messege to all the WSIS partisipants to invite them to the ITU TELECOM AFRICA 2004 at Cairo 4-8 May. ( Helping The World Comunicate). this was a part of the messege , :
Only ITU Telecom Africa 2004 can open up the unique opportunities available in the regions' telecommunications market.
Access the tremendous growth of the telecommunications market in Africa through the only regional Exibition and forum that brings together key government and industry players. This unique opportunity allows Ministers, Regulators and the telecom industry to forge partnerships, explore new technologies, adopt best practices, and shape the future of Africa's telecommunications industry. join this opportunity to connect with the leaders who are changing how Africa communicates at ITU Telecom Africa 2004. Access Africa at www.itu.int/africa2004
Now i think it is also our tern the African youth to take an action towareds such event.

Help needed in Somalia

The Muslim Scientists in Somalia, had announced that the selling of Condoms is a sin and for using it for the Majority Islamic population. And the people using condoms will be punished and slashed, this decision was a response to a campaign led by the UN to raise awareness to the HIV/AIDS issues and there opinion was that Condoms encourage adultery, the Somalia Radio said that condoms are available in all the Health Centers and that the wars between the militias in Somalia Since 1991 caused of the absence of the statistics done by International salvation organizations about HIV/AIDS, but the only statistics available is that 70 % of the girls in Somalia never heard about what is HIV/AIDS . And the International Salvation Organizations are afraid from the movements around the boarders with Kenya, Ethiopia, and Godbout. So what do you think we could do as an action as youth?
